A DEEPLY MORAL TALE ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF REDEMPTION FOR THE LOST

I did not choose writing as my career. It happened by chance.

I was a successful banker, and after I retired from banking, I moved on to insurance, where I also excelled. I qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table six times in a row and had the privilege to attend MDRT Conferences abroad. Those opportunities broadened my knowledge in new areas, which prepared me for writing.

My writing journey began after my bout with cancer. I wrote I Am Cancer Free and self-published it in June 2013, eight years after my near-death experience with cancer. I wrote that book to tell people suffering from that disease that cancer does not have to be a death sentence. That book [my first] was the winner of the McGrath House Indie Book Awards in the category Non-Fiction in September 2016. It received a five-star review and five-star seal from Readers Favorite in 2017, and won an award in the Readers’ Favorite International Awards in Miami in 2018.

I wrote four memoirs about my life as a banker, retirement, travel, and a spiritual one, before trying my hand at fiction.

I tried fiction because of something that my brother said to me in one of his letters prior to his death. He wrote in reference to my book, ‘My Life as a Banker: A Life Worth Living,”

“Your book makes very pleasant reading, and your literary expression is superb and easy to follow. You have an excellent talent, and I think you should follow up on a leisurely basis by publishing a book of short stories. With fiction, you will have greater opportunity to use your imagination and your undoubted descriptive ability. You used the word “fantasize” to create a situation. This is an outstanding quality, which you should continue to use because it is imagination, which disposes of everything, coming from within you. It creates beauty, justice, and happiness, which are everything in this world.”

After the devastating effects of the zika virus pandemic in 2016, the idea came to me. It was purely my imagination.

 An idea for a science fiction series came to me, and in February 2016, I published ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES: REVENGE OF ZEEKA BOOK I.

Within a few months, I released ZEEKA’S CHILD BOOK 2 and ZEEKA RETURNS BOOK 3.

 I had compiled the first three books into a trilogy called REVENGE OF ZEEKA: HORROR TRILOGY. In September 2016, I submitted the trilogy to Readers Favorite for a free review. The book received a five-star review and a five-star seal.

I thought that I had ended the story.

 But in the middle of the night, I awoke, and Zeeka spoke to me, telling me that I was not finished.

He said he wanted to return as a ghost to beg Steven's forgiveness.

As a devoted Christian, I believe in forgiveness.

I believe that God created each of us and that there is good in each one. I brushed it off several times before I finally wrote ZEEKA'S GHOST.

Then Number Nine started to bother me.

He wanted to tell the world that he was human, so I wrote RESURRECTION. It sounds crazy, but it is the truth.

 I combined all five episodes into another book, ZEEKA CHRONICLES, which also received a five-star award from Readers' Favorite International and won a bronze medal at the awards ceremony I attended in Miami. I won two awards that night: one for ZEEKA CHRONICLES, and the other for I AM CANCER FREE.

In early 2025, I adapted ZEEKA CHRONICLES into a screenplay with all five episodes. I submitted it a few times to movie agents, and I was told by an agent that it was too big. It was 150 pages, and I should reduce it to 120 pages.

I had a difficult time choosing which episode to delete. It hurt me, but I decided to delete ZEEKA’s GHOST.

That is how the Screenplay for ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES II was born.

 The screenplay was a finalist in the Horror.com Film & Screenplay Contest in September 2025. It placed in the top 25% of all entries.

I then proceeded to publish a book for ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES II in October 2025.

 My Christian faith and belief in forgiveness are the very foundation of Zeeka's story.

It is not just a thrilling sci-fi horror, but a deeply moral tale about the possibility of redemption, even for those who seem lost.

The moral of the story is that GOOD ALWAYS TRIUMPHS OVER EVIL.

There are three things readers can learn from the book.

 • Courage can emerge from vulnerability: Steven's transformation from victim to hero shows how someone who begins in a position of danger can eventually become the person others depend on.

 • Technology can serve both creation and destruction: The futuristic weapons, heroic robots, miracle healing machines, and weaponized zombies create an interesting contrast.

 • Good always triumphs over evil. Master Zeeka's hidden humanity and Number Nine's unexpected situation give the story room to explore compassion, identity, and redemption alongside the horror.

DEADLY VENGEANCE: ZEEKA STRIKES BACK

 

Lying on my bed one night, I recalled my brother telling me, after he had read my memoir, My Life as a Banker, that my book made very pleasant reading and that I should consider publishing a fiction book of short stories where I would have a greater opportunity to use my descriptive ability.

It was the year 2016, and I had read the reports of the devastating effects of the zika virus pandemic. An idea came to me to write a futuristic story about babies born to infected mothers.  It was purely my imagination.

I was not sure where to begin, but I sat at my computer, and the characters I chose seemed to write the story themselves.

Book One – Zeeka and the Zombies: Revenge of Zeeka, a futuristic novel set in the year 2036, serves as an introduction to this mind-boggling series.

A strange-looking man, who claimed to be a zombie, visited the Chief of Medical Staff at the Gosh Hospital to inform him that his Master Zeeka was planning revenge against the doctors because his wife, who was infected with the virus, had died while giving birth at the hospital, and their son was born deformed. He disappeared, although he was sedated and left in a locked room. Integrated into the mystery are a love story, a family drama, and a carnival massacre by 51 programmable zombies on a fictitious Caribbean island. The combination of these three aspects in this collection made it an exciting read. People who enjoy detective novels, romance fiction, or science fiction bought this book, and it became an Amazon No 1 bestseller.

Book 2 -Zeeka’s Child: Revenge of Zeeka continues the story. The detectives investigating the carnival massacre could not find out who was controlling the zombies. Secrets, lies, human flaws, and ‘skeletons in cupboards’ are revealed and exposed when a scientist who was kidnapped as a child by Master Zeeka made his appearance and revealed his true identity and the identity of Zeeka. The police started a manhunt for Zeeka.

My imagination continued to run wild when I wrote the conclusion to the story, Book 3 – Zeeka Returns; Revenge of Zeeka.

Action, adventure, high-tech weapons, nine flesh-eating zombies, and a heroic robot make their appearance. Zeeka was hiding out in the forest with his nine flesh-eating zombies while police tried to capture him. He abandoned his zombies in the forest and went to the scientist’s brother’s home to find the scientist, Dr, Steven Sharpe, to ask for his forgiveness. He had a gun in his hand, and the robot helper kicked him down the stairs, tied him up, and called the Chief of Police. He was arrested, taken to prison, where he committed suicide.

I thought that I ended the story with Book 3. You may think that I am crazy, but my character, Zeeka, haunted me. He told me that his story had not ended. He wanted to return as a ghost to beg the scientist, Steven, whom he had kidnapped and whom he loved as his own son, for forgiveness. I gave in and penned Book 4 – Zeeka’s Ghost: Revenge of Zeeka

Unresolved issues, regrets, and love are all woven together with the right mix of startling plot twists in this book. Steven forgave Zeeka because he saved his wife from dangerous kidnappers.

When I was about to relax and move on to another book, the zombie that disappeared in book one also nagged me to do a fifth story – Resurrection: Revenge of Zeeka, about his transformation. It turned out that he was the son of Master Zeeka, who brought him up among the zombies, but he was not a zombie. The police thought he was dead in the massacre at the Carnival event in February 2036. Dr, Steven Sharpe cured him of his neurological disorder, and all ended well as Good triumphed over evil.

SCREENPLAY ADAPTATION

Each mind-blowing episode is in a separate book, but I also compiled all five stories into one book – Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka.

It has been adapted into a five-series screenplay for a movie or TV series.

This futuristic thriller was an award winner in the Young Adult Thriller category in the Reader's Favorite International Awards 2018, winner of the gold award in the category Science Fiction in Connections Emagazine Readers' Choice Awards 2018, and it placed in the top ten finalists for science fiction in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018.

 

In 2025, I combined four episodes into ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES II. This volume was also adapted into a screenplay and was a finalist in the 13Horror-com Film & Screenplay Contest in September 2025.

It has been a rewarding journey.

MIRACLE IN THE SEA

 

The Temple in the Sea, located in Waterloo, Trinidad and Tobago, is one of the most representative symbols of the spiritual perseverance, religious freedom, and cultural identity of Trinidad and Tobago.

Built with the vision and determination of Siewdass Sadhu, this sanctuary represents an extraordinary example of faith, dedication, and community service. His story is internationally recognized as a testament to commitment to spiritual and cultural values that enrich human heritage.

As a symbol of coexistence, respect, and cultural diversity, the Temple in the Sea constitutes an invaluable legacy for present and future generations.

  

 INTERNATIONAL TRIBUTE TO THE TEMPLE IN THE SEA

Tribute is paid to Sewdass Sadhu, an indentured labourer and visionary.

He migrated to Trinidad from India and built a temple by the sea.

The land belonged to a well-established foreign sugar company.

They demanded that he remove it from their site or face a penalty.

Sadhu refused, was fined, and sent to prison for 14 days.

The temple was destroyed, but Sadhu remained unfazed.

He was determined to rebuild the temple upon his release.

He could not build it on land, and he decided to build it in the sea.

In 1947, Sadhu rode his bicycle to transport stones, cement, and sand.

To extend the border, he took the materials to the coast of the island.

He created a rocky pathway, and brick by brick, he built the temple in the Gulf.

In 1952, the pathway into the Gulf of Paria and the temple were completed.

The Temple in the Sea was named the ‘Sewdass Sadhu Shiva Mandir.’

It is a Hindu mandir in Waterloo, Carapichaima, Trinidad and Tobago.

In 1995, the temple was renovated by Randolph Rampersad.

RETIREMENT IS A NEW DAWN OF FREEDOM AND JOY

 

WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, MANY OTHERS OPEN.

In her memoir RETIREMENT IS FUN, which is a sequel to My Life as a Banker - A Life Worth Living, Brenda shows that retirement is not about slowing down, but about living fully, chasing dreams, and savouring the freedom to create the life you’ve always imagined.

Reluctant to move on from banking, she amazes herself when she turned down an offer to work in a higher position at another bank.

She chose Insurance instead, and for her, it turned out to be the better choice. Why?

1.    She excelled and qualified for the Premium Association for Financial Professionals [MDRT] six times in a row, and her travels around the world skyrocketed.

2.    Cancer struck, and she almost died. The Insurance company paid all her medical bills for treatment in Miami.

For Brenda, retirement is when you stop working to live, and start working at living.

After her bout with cancer, Brenda did not give up on life.

She found her third calling and has published 68 books to date.
