"Book Review-A Road Travelled by Florabelle Lutchman

“A Road Travelled: Poetry to Delight” is a very apt title for this collection of poems written by the award-winning multi-genre author, Mrs. Brenda Mohammed. This is her twenty-fifth published book and her third poetry book.
The book cover with the light bulb, designed by Mary L Schmidt, also fits with the book description – she writes poetry when she has light bulb moments.
Why do I say the title is apt or most fitting? The Poems come from the very heart of the author who aims to delight with her outspoken words based on a variety of life experiences, from her travels, her memoirs, her poems to excite the senses on Love and the present situation the entire world is facing now with the Pandemic, COVID 19 and our lockdown at home.
Her poems on travels, for example, her visit to Rome, was so explicitly clear that it makes the reader believe he/she is traversing the streets of Rome and visiting all the tourist attractions there: the Colosseum, the giant amphitheater and St. Peter’s Cathedral.
Then there is the visit to Paris and the Louvre where she purchased a picture of the Mona Lisa.
Just read this:
We had queued up for hours in a very long line.
There was no social distancing at that time.
To visit the Louvre Art Museum in France.
We gasped in awe on reaching the entrance.
We saw paintings unique and distinguished.
With both sides of the vast rooms enriched.
Visitors were stunned with the masterpieces
Of Leonardo Da Vinci and Paolo Veronese.
Thousands flocked to see the Mona Lisa.
They blocked me from taking a proper picture.
* The Wedding Feast at Cana was so large,
It caught my eyes, I thought it was a mirage.

The Global Pandemic- COVID 19 did not escape the eye of this Poet:
It’s not too late for humankind to revert to God’s ways.
During the lockdown, we have enough time to mend our ways.
God is the same as he was yesterday, today, and forever.
He’s patient, forgiving, and will welcome us in the life hereafter
She had reasons to smile with what has happened in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago:
Courts will hold hearings electronically.
Great news for lawyers and judges in the family.
Trials will be held by video conferencing.
No more time wasted on the roads commuting.
Mrs. Brenda Mohammed writes simply, but in a way that even the youngest can understand the meanings she wishes to convey, and you visualise that you are part of her journey.
I was also impressed by the beautiful and deserving tributes written by Shiju H Pallithazheth, Dr. Emmanuel Tende, Mala Naidoo, Christabel Sylvester, Debabrata Mohanty, and Mohammed Erfun Amin.
On the back pages, are glowing reviews written by Dr. Vandita Dharni and Shanita Vichare, so readers can know what to expect.
This Book of poems, “A Road Travelled” will surely delight and appeal to the senses and prove to all literature lovers that you could easily pen your feelings, your dreams, your travels, your love experiences into good poetry.
