With so much happening in the world today,
I thought I should share this poem I felt inspired to write.
PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS
Matthew 25:1-13 NIV
Jesus told a parable that He likened to the kingdom of heaven.
He said that ten virgins went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five wise ones took extra oil in jars in case their lamps burned out.
*
The bridegroom delayed his coming, and they all fell asleep.
At midnight the cry rang out that the bridegroom had reached.
All ten virgins woke up and lighted their lamps to meet him.
The foolish ones asked the wise ones for oil as their lamps were dying.
*
The wise ones said there was not enough to share among them.
They should go to a shop to buy some oil for themselves.
The wise ones went into the wedding banquet and the door was shut.
The foolish ones arrived late and the bridegroom said he knew them not.
*
The lesson is to keep watch because we know not the hour or day.
Our Lord wants us to be faithful, alert, keeping watch, and to pray.
He makes this clear to all His believers throughout the world.
We would not be taken by surprise if we keep reading His Word.
