I thank Padmaja Iyengar - Paddy for including my poems in this outstanding Anthology "The Myth of Medusa Deconstructed" which has received over 2,000,000 views.
I greatly appreciate that you requested my contribution.
HERE ARE MY POEMS:
“The Myth of Medusa - Deconstructed”!
Medusa was a beautiful woman raped and scorned.
A victim of patriarchal leadership into which she was born.
Her beautiful hair was turned into a head of snakes,
Because of a lustful Greek God’s crime and mistakes.
*
Throughout history, she has been portrayed as a monster.
Beheaded by Perseus for something that was done to her.
She was an innocent, helpless, and powerless woman.
Who was referred to in all classics as the dread Gorgon.
*
It’s time in this modern-day to de-myth the Greek mythology.
And spread the news throughout the world about the true story.
Women have always been stigmatized and blamed for male lust.
Let us open our eyes and turn this sexual stigma into dust.
*
Medusa’s story has raised many questions by modern-day women.
Was it she who desecrated the temple of Minerva or Poseidon?
Why did Goddess Minerva turn her face away and pretend not to see?
Medusa is our protector and guardian and not a monstrosity.

LUST IS EVIL
Neptune’s lustful eyes fell on the pretty maiden.
As she worshipped in Minerva’s temple, her haven.
He raped her, and the Goddess made her an example.
Medusa was blamed for desecrating the temple.
*
In the vilest way, vengeance on Minerva she takes.
Turning her golden ringlets into phallic snakes.
When men looked at her they turned into stone
Never again could they return to their home.
*
The only man who had success was Perseus.
From her neck sprang the winged horse, Pegasus
He decapitated her head and used it for protection.
Minerva designed a motif of the head to prevent destruction.
*
Medusa became a protector for both man and woman
A fashion company portrays her in a modern manifestation.
For the modern woman, Medusa is an image of sexual oppression.
Let us tell the true story and stop the stigmatization of women.
