BRENDA’S LITERARY WORK

TITLE: ZEEKA CHRONICLES: REVENGE OF ZEEKA

WRITTEN BY: BRENDA MOHAMMED

BOOK DESCRIPTION: The five-episode futuristic sci-fi thriller written by Author Brenda Mohammed, who published 64 books, is set in 2036 on an imaginary tourist island paradise off the coast of South America, popular for posh beaches and annual Carnival celebrations. Classic sci-fi elements, dark fantasy, and high-tech weapons blend with Caribbean folklore and lifestyle, creating a visually stunning world of sun-kissed shores where palm trees sway and steel drums echo.

In this character-driven novel, drama and intrigue delve deep into the psychological complexities of the Antagonist, Chief of Police Bill Grady [ Master Zeeka], and Dr. Steven Sharpe, the Protagonist, their families, and acquaintances.

Bill Grady [Master Zeeka] is the Chief of Police on the island of Gosh, and he has been harbouring grief and rage for many years, Grady kidnapped Steven Sharpe, the seven-year-old son of his former lover who jilted him, leaving him hurt and betrayed. He changed the boy’s name to Jason Stephens, threatened to kill his family if he tried to escape, sent him to medical school, and used him to create a vaccine to bring back to life the dead babies who died after women infected with the zika virus gave birth at the Gosh Hospital.

Grady used the vaccine to create programmable killer zombies in a revenge plot against Gosh Hospital where his ex-lover and her husband used to work. Added to that, his wife who was infected with the virus, died in childbirth, and his biological son was born deformed in that hospital.

Grady known as Master Zeeka to his 51 programmable killer zombies unleashes chaos and death on spectators at a Carnival event on the tourist haven of Gosh Island.

The local police, Detective Wildy, and Dr. Steven Sharpe, kidnapped by Zeeka as a child, must hunt down Master Zeeka before he kills again.

Dr. Jason Stephens’ real name is Dr. Steven Sharpe. When he is suspected of being Master Zeeka, he breaks his engagement with Dr. Janet Jones and disappears, leaving a note to forget him. Janet marries Steven’s brother, Dr.Raynor Sharpe.

Steven filled with guilt and shame, proves his innocence and real identity, and reunites with his brother, Raynor. He assists the police in hunting down Zeeka, regains his job at Gosh Hospital, marries Janet’s sister, Mandy, invents many miracle cures, and becomes the hero on the island of Gosh.

In episode 1, Dr. Raynor Sharpe sees zombies marching outside his beachfront home and they suddenly disappear. A zombie named Number Nine goes to Gosh Hospital to warn Dr. Brown about an impending massacre by his Master Zeeka.

In February 2036, 51 killer zombies disguised as a sailor band, and controlled by a transponder by Master Zeeka, unleash weapons at a Carnival event. One hundred and twenty-five people die, seventy-five are maimed for life, and all zombies disintegrate into ash. Police are not clear if Number Nine died in the shoot-out. A manhunt begins for Master Zeeka. Intertwined in this episode is a love triangle between Dr. Jason Stephens, Dr. Raynor Sharpe, and Dr. Janet Jones.

In episode 2, Detective Jack Wildy discovers a flash drive revealing the face of the real perpetrator, Chief of Police Bill Grady.

Dr. Jason Stephens gives another flash drive to Janet to deliver to Dr. Raynor Sharpe, confirming his identity as Dr. Steven Sharpe—Raynor’s brother—and about his kidnapping by Zeeka [ Grady] forty years before.

Police find evidence of nine flesh-eating zombies in Grady’s basement and start a manhunt for Zeeka and the nine zombies.

In episode 3, Zeeka [ Grady] abandons his zombies in the forest and goes to the home of Dr. Raynor Sharpe to look for Steven Sharpe. Janet’s helper, Miranda, a beautiful robot, uses her taekwondo skills to capture Zeeka when she sees him holding a gun and calls the police.

They slap Grady with more than 200 charges to which he confesses. He asks to see Steven and tells him why he kidnapped him.

He begs Steven for forgiveness after telling him he thought Steven was his son. Steven does not believe him and refuses. Grady commits suicide in prison. The funeral home gives Steven Grady’s ashes. The police shrink zombies and demolish them with high-tech weapons found in Grady’s bag.

In the fourth episode, a strong wind throws down Zeeka’s urn. it falls and breaks into pieces, the ashes scatter in Steven’s study, and Zeeka’s ghost appears to Steven. The ghost begs Steven for forgiveness and he again refuses. However, the ghost saves Steven and his wife Mandy from dangerous criminals and Steven forgives Zeeka who leaves the world in peace.

In episode 5, Number Nine reappears and is alive. Mandy's robot helper, Eve, encounters him in the backyard. He collapses in the backyard with an epileptic fit, and Eve alerts the Gosh hospital. Tests and records confirm he is Number Nine, he is not a zombie and is the biological son of Bill Grady – Master Zeeka.

This literary piece is truly a masterpiece, the storyline is captivating and lets the readers delve more into the mystery. It enthralls the curiosity up until the end. Madame Brenda Mohammed definitely created a literary masterpiece that will last a lifetime.

A CINEMATIC ADVENTURE

A CINEMATIC ADVENTURE

My first attempt to venture into cinematic stories seemed hopeful.

I entered the contest with cinebooks.com and won more than the 1000 votes required to make the first series in my five-series sci-fi thriller Zeeka Chronicles into a Cinebook.

Things were going fine until it was time to sign the contract. I was told that because Trinidad and Tobago was not a member of the European Union they could not proceed.

I heard nothing further from them, but my book is still listed as one of their projects and I asked for it to be removed.

In August 2022, I decided to get a screenplay written for my five-series sci-fi thriller. I arranged with a screenwriter from Stage 32, but he got into an accident and could not do it. I then asked the daughter of a close friend but she got a new job and could not find the time. I did a crash course and wrote the screenplay myself.

I submitted pitches for both the pilot and series.

Here are both the positive and negative responses.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR PITCHES FOR SCI-FI THRILLER – SEPT. 2024

ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES – SERIES ONE - PILOT PITCH

CATALINA RAMIREZ;

POSITIVE: I like how the story keeps you interested and makes you want to keep reading it. I also like how you combine futuristic technology with elements of zombie horror.

NEGATIVE:  clarity is required with high-tech settings and Zeeka’s motivation.

JODIE PLATT

POSITIVE: Hi, thank you for sharing this pitch with me. I like that the theme is good triumphing over evil after an event that happened 20 years before. The setting in South America, with the backdrop of Carnival, could make this visually attractive. It is also interesting that this is based on reality with the Zika virus as the inciting incident.

NEGATIVE: Clarity is required with set- up of the series and clarity with Steven Sharpe and Grady.

JONNY GUTMAN

 ZEEKA CHRONICLES – Five-series sci-fi thriller

POSITIVE: This was definitely one of the most unique pitches I've ever read! I love that the inspiration came from a real-life crisis and that Brenda has taken it in such an imaginative direction.  Like I said, this was one of the most imaginative pitches I've ever seen, but I think it's a little too ambitious for me! I wish Brenda good luck with it though because I think it would make an incredibly entertaining series!"

NEGATIVE: Too ambitious. Unclear as to how Janet and Mandy relate to the rest of the story or what were their motivations.

I am re-writing and not giving up.

Here is the blurb for the book:

 GOOD TRIUMPHS OVER EVIL

When 51 programmable zombies unleash chaos and death on spectators at a Carnival event on the tourist haven of Gosh Island, local police, detectives, and a man kidnapped as a boy by their Master, must hunt down Master Zeeka before he kills again.
The fictional series is set in 2036 on an imaginary island, off the coast of South America, well-known for fabulous beaches, resorts, and annual Carnival celebrations.
This science-fiction thriller with lingering themes of human flaws, evil, and good, is purely the author's imagination, inspired by the zika virus in 2016.
Reviewers have compared this futuristic sci-fi thriller five-book series to Frankenstein, Twilight Zone, and Shakespeare’s plays, and some have said it is movie material.
Zombies and robots take center stage.
The mind-blowing episodes begin in Zeeka and the Zombies Series 1 and continue in Zeeka’s Child Series 2, Zeeka Returns Series 3, Zeeka’s Ghost Series 4, and Resurrection Series 5.
The excitement builds with each series as the detectives unearth more clues, and the author succeeds in pulling the various strands together to offer a breath-taking conclusion, where good triumphs over evil.
This futuristic thriller was an award winner in the Category -Young Adult Thriller in Reader's Favorite International Awards 2018, winner in Science Fiction in SIBA Awards 2017, winner of the gold award in the category Science Fiction in Connections Emagazine Readers' Choice Awards 2018, and winner in the top ten finalists for science-fiction in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018.
The International Chamber of Writers and Artists in Spain gave the book an award in April 2023, on the occasion of World Book Day.
Reader's Favorite International gave it a five-star review.
Here is an extract of that review::
"Zeeka Chronicles is a thoughtful series and would delight fans of the genre.
Brenda Mohammed is an author brimming with original ideas, and definitely an author to follow."

Five Stars'Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed opens with Zeeka and the Zombies.

On the island of Gosh in January 2036 Raynor Sharpe is woken by rattling to see a beach full of small robots. Is he still dreaming?
Raynor is a hospital doctor and so is the woman he secretly loves, but Janet is engaged to another man.
Gosh's carnival is turned from an exotic native spectacle to tragedy by a troop of entertainers: zombies who shoot into the audience killing and injuring hundreds.
How can these monsters disintegrate into a heap of dust?
Why is one false head found?
Who is Zeeka, and does he control the zombies?
Why does Janet cancel her wedding?
Can the Chief of Police be trusted, or is he as corrupt as others in the force? Read on: Zeeka's Child; Zeeka Returns, Zeeka's Ghost, and Resurrection hold the un-guessable answers.
Zeeka Chronicles comprises five books from the Revenge of Zeeka series. 2036 is shown as a technically advanced world by gadgets like watches that act much like today's smartphones plus visual contact, robots and much more.
The story is built on the premise that a doctor discovers a cure for a disease but is prevented from using it, but the plot becomes more entangled the farther you read. Police corruption, suicide, kidnapping, and a very active ghost.
Brenda Mohammed's writing style is evocative of the future and she handles the science in her fiction brilliantly: reading is believing!
I loved Zeeka Chronicles; it has worldwide appeal for anyone looking for an entertaining story that is different."

ZEEKA CHRONICLES WAS INSPIRED BY A DANGEROUS VIRUS

INTRODUCTION
ZEEKA CHRONICLES: REVENGE OF ZEEKA [SCIENCE FICTION]
A Police officer met and fell in love with the daughter of a renowned doctor at a Carnival event. She was a registered nurse at the same hospital in which her father worked. Her name was Margaret.
They dated a while and when he proposed marriage to her, she agreed to marry him. He bought her an engagement ring, but her father disapproved of their relationship. He wanted her to marry a doctor. Not wishing to displease her father, she broke off the relationship with the police officer.
The officer was extremely hurt, even to the point of great bitterness. He tried to win back her love but without his knowledge, she married another – a doctor who worked in the hospital with her, Dr. Carl Sharpe.
When he found out, she had jilted him, something inside of him tripped off. He was never again the same person that he was. He vowed to take revenge one day.
Seven years passed and Margaret bore two sons for her husband – Steven and Raynor. The officer always felt that her first son Steven was his child. He planned to kidnap him.
One fateful day Steven, who was just seven years old, was riding his bike home after visiting a friend who lived in a secluded part of the city. His bike broke down, and he was trying to fix it. A police jeep stopped, and the police officer asked if he could help. There was no one else in the vehicle.
Steven saw no harm in allowing a police officer to help since they are there to protect and serve. Or, so he thought. The police officer came out of the vehicle, looked at his bike, turned it over, and tried to repair it. He then said that he needed to go to a bicycle shop. He offered to drive Steven home. Steven accepted the lift and never saw his home again.
The man threatened the boy to kill his parents and brother if he ever tried to escape from him. He boasted about his police connections and Steven was fearful of him and did whatever he asked. The man could not legally adopt him and changed the boy’s name to Jason Stephens.
If you have not yet read the award-winning and best-selling novel ZEEKA CHRONICLES, a futuristic thriller and award-winning novel inspired by the scare of the zika virus, you will be unaware of what can take place in the minds of mad scientists who try to use a virus to control lives.
