SEARCH: ENQUIRY: AUTHOR INTERROGATION
ALEXA WAYNE (AW): When did you find out you would want to write novels?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: It was never my intention to become a writer. I wrote I am Cancer Free to tell persons in a similar position that cancer is a battle you have to fight and win. The response I received from buyers and readers encouraged me to write more books.

I am Cancer Free was the winner of McGrath House Indie Book Awards in the category Non-Fiction in September 2016 and won an award from Readers Favorite International Book Awards 2018 in the category Health and Fitness.

AW: You mentioned your work, all set in science-fiction or cyborg settings, would you let our readers know why you are attracted to that genre?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: I am a multi-genre writer but suddenly got an idea for a science fiction series when I read about the zika virus.
It was set in the year 2036 and based on events which took place 20 years before.

After writing the first three books, Zeeka and the Zombies, Zeeka’s Child, and Zeeka Returns I combined them into one book named
Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy. That book received a five-star review from Readers Favorite.
I thought I was done with the series, but Zeeka haunted me in my dreams.
I had the same dream for almost a month.

He insisted that I write the fourth book, Zeeka’s Ghost because he said that I did not tell the full story.

“What do you mean by the full story?” I asked him.
He replied, “Start writing and I will tell you what to write.”
I said, “But you are dead. You committed suicide. How can you tell me what to write?”
“Do you believe in ghosts?” he asked.

I wrote Zeeka’s Ghost, the fourth book, which was unplanned and believed it or not, Zeeka told me what to write.

I was still not finished with the series. He returned in my dreams and told me to write the fifth book, Resurrection to reveal the true identity of Zombie Number Nine. I was guided by him to do that book as well.

You must think that I am crazy, but I believe all writers experience something similar.

I combined all five stories into one book named Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka. The book won an award in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018.

AW: When writing about sci-fi, do you do research and if so, how far do you go with your research?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: Yes. When I wrote the Zeeka stories, I researched for high-tech weapons, robots, programmable zombies, and other technology in the year 2036 but found nothing.

My eight-year-old grandson came up with names for weapons and technological equipment, and I am very proud of him. Reviewers commented positively on the shrinkenator, zombies, robots, and weapons.

AW: What is most important to you when writing your novels?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: I write with the readers in mind. I want my readers to experience every emotion expressed by my characters such as love, joy, rage, terror, disappointment, and sorrow.

AW: Which authors influenced your writing in science-fiction?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: I cannot name a science fiction author because I never read any science fiction books that interested me. I can name movies that enthralled me like Star Wars, Star Trek, Back to the Future, T-Rex, Ex Machina and many more.

AW: Which of your novels is your favorite and why is it your favorite?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka is my favorite novel. It was my first try at science fiction, and it was a great success. It received a five-star review from Readers Favorite soon after I published it, and won several awards as follows:

Award winner in the Category Young Adult Thriller in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018.

Winner of the gold award in the category science fiction in E-magazine Readers’ Choice Awards 2018.

Top ten finalist in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018.

Winner in Science Fiction in SIBA Awards 2017.

AW: Do you believe in alien visiting our world, by that I mean in abduction or close encounters of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th kind?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: No. I do not believe in aliens although I may write about them. I regard them as fiction.

AW: What made you decide to be self-published?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: I chose self-publishing as I wanted the freedom to revise my books or covers whenever I want without having to wait on a publisher to do so.

AW: What sets you apart from other science-fiction and cyborg authors?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: I don’t consider myself a famous science fiction writer. However, the book, Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka did win awards from Readers Favorite and other entities. Reviewers have emphasized its originality, so it is worth reading.

AW: What can readers look forward to from Brenda Mohammed in 2019?

BRENDA MOHAMMED: In January 2019 I released my first book of poetry. Strength for the Disheartened: Motivational Poems is free to download on Amazon and Books2Read.

I had founded a Facebook group called How to Write for Success in February 2017. In October 2018 I affiliated it to another Facebook group called Motivational Strips. Both groups have the same mission of Writers’ Empowerment. Because of that association, I have developed a passion for poetry.

On February 2nd 2019 both groups produced A Spark of Hope: An Anthology of Poems for Saving Lives. The book topped the charts on Amazon and made New Release No.1 within the space of two days.

In February 2019, I released a crime fiction, The Axe Murderer: Barry Holmes Investigates.

I am also taking part in a couple of anthologies for short stories. Whether or not I will write another science fiction book only time will tell.

My Amazing Travels

POEM – MY AMAZING
TRAVELS
[My composition in my book Travel Memoirs with Pictures]

My very first trip I still cannot believe
Was planned and executed with such great ease.
My father, an Inspector of Schools, was such a strict man,
He gave in to my wishes when I told him of the plan.

I got my first long vacation while working as a banker
One of my co-workers wanted a travelling partner.
She visited my father and discussed the matter
Arrangements were made without any flutter.

We travelled to New York, Toronto, London, and Germany,
In each of those places, there was somebody,
To guide and protect us and to take us wonderful places,
It was a dream come true at our young ages.

We even visited Holland, which was across the Border.
To drive across from Germany was quite in order.
Memories of great times continue to linger,
I thank God for an understanding father.

That trip in 1968 was the beginning of much more,
I visited many countries afterward I am still in awe.
Barbados, Tobago, St. Maarten, and Buffalo,
Cirencester in the United Kingdom, Miami, and Orlando.

I was accompanied by my husband on many trips.
Sisters, nieces, children, grandchildren, and friends, travelled with me a bit.
Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, and Hialeah,
Curacao, Caracas, Margarita, Virginia, and Anguilla.

We sailed aboard the Creole Queen
On the Mississippi in New Orleans
We traversed the Rockies in Colorado
And walked the streets of Cozumel, Mexico.

We were thrilled to visit the Vatican in Rome,
The Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum.
To explore the countryside of Florence,
And to sail on a Gondola in Venice.

My fridge is decorated with magnets
Souvenirs of all my visits
London, Madrid, Bahamas, Coco Cay, Barcelona.
And the Leaning Tower of Pisa

How can I forget the Spanish Steps in Rome?
Stratford upon Avon, where Shakespeare was born.
CN Tower in Toronto so very high
I thought the elevator would take me to the sky.

Then there was El Poble and Toledo
Noted for Spanish Gold
We travelled on the Euro star.
The scenery was beautiful to behold!

I must not omit Cartagena in Columbia,
Anaheim, Las Vegas, and Catalina,
Key West, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, and Pembroke Pines,
Places I love to lime.

Of course, I would like to make special mention,
Of two exciting cruises with Royal Caribbean.
Majesty of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas
Two ships which grace the Seas.

Last but not least and best of all
We visited Paris in the fall.
Cologne, Dusseldorf, and Berlin
Amazing places, which made my head, spin.

Interesting read!
March 21, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although the title of the book I was prepared to read about was the author’s life as a banker, this book is so much more.
It a memoir written in journal accounting as the author takes the reader on the journey almost from birth to adulthood.
Throughout there are various scenarios of life on the island of Trinidad, where the story is set.
I’ve visited several of the islands in the Caribbean; however, Trinidad is not one of them.
Maybe one day.
But after reading several of the author’s books some set in Trinidad, I feel as if I’ve visited the place in person, so vivid the descriptions.
The other thing that needs pointing about this accounting is the way the author took the reader to work with her, from her first job to her movement up the corporate ladder, and her ultimate position as a bank manager.
There are lots of brief descriptions about her family life, being courted by her husband and the wonderful ceremony of her wedding.
This book has a bit of everything and will keep the reader’s interest until the end.
Very interesting read!

Who will save the islanders from the Zombies?

Who was controlling the zombies?
Read a five-star review of Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy from Readers Favorite:
"Reviewed by Faridah Nassozi for Readers' Favorite.\

In Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed, the island of Gosh is under attack by an army of zombies under the command of a vengeful science genius. In the year 2016, the Zika virus broke out in Central and South America with life-threatening effects for pregnant women. Given a choice to save the mothers or the unborn babies, a decision was made to save the mothers. The tiny stillborns were securely and secretly buried. Only a few people knew of this. Unknown to everyone, however, a certain scientist managed to get hold of all 51 bodies, bring them back to life, and condition them to follow his command, creating himself a perfect army of zombies. Now, twenty years later, the evil scientist seeks revenge on those he holds responsible for the stillbirths. Only three of the current doctors at Central Hospital - Raynor, Mark, and George - witnessed the unfortunate events of 2016. The three have strong suspicions about who might be controlling the zombies. Meanwhile, Zeeka is lying in wait for the perfect time to unleash his army onto the island. Zeeka has big, evil plans and this is just the beginning. In a desperate search for answers, and with very little to go on, the doctors search for the elusive Master Zeeka. Will they save the islanders from Zeeka and his zombies, or will it be too late?

Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed is a one of a kind novella trilogy that delivers an incredible story guaranteed to give readers an absolute sci-fi treat. I especially liked how Brenda used current events as the pivotal point from which to build this amazing sci-fi horror. This made the story even more relatable. More importantly, however, I admired how she owned her story and created this captivating version of events. She captured with an amazing depth the setting, characters, plot, and emotions in such few words. If you are looking for a thrilling short read, this fast-paced, sci-fi action novella will give you the time of your life.

Is this Hardly a Life worth Writing about?

Winner of Metamorph's publishing Summer Indie Book Awards in Bio/Members second place, here are extracts of what Reviewers are saying about MY LIFE AS A BANKER.

To read the full reviews go to Amazon Universal Link.

MY LIFE AS A BANKER

1. A monument to the author's successful career in banking as she rises from a bank clerk to several managerial positions.
2. This book would appeal to readers who enjoy memoirs, insider stories of a different age and different cultures, and anyone looking for confirmation of the strength that can be gained from an upbringing that fosters a belief in God.
3. My Life as a Banker: A Life worth Living]] is a wonderful story detailing how the author started at a clerical level and rose to a senior position, solely on the basis of her dedication, hard work, and intelligence.
4. It is an unforgettable account of the crisis, choices, and challenges she faced in her life. It's about facing impossible circumstances, knowing there is a flicker of hope, and realizing that God is closer to you than your own skin. Great writing with such an interesting premise and structure.
5. A quick, easy read, this engaging memoir provides a glimpse of life few of us have seen. Both history and geography combined with the author's positive outlook to bring her story to life. Most enjoyable
6. My Life As A Banker is a fascinating, intimate story. The author has an engaging writing style that draws you into the story and you feel as though she is talking directly to you, the reader. There is a nice balance between the professional and the personal and while I found the professional aspects rewarding, the highlight for me was reading about the author's interesting life.
7. The book "My Life as a Banker" is a memoir about Brenda Mohammed's early decision to become a banker and the successful career she forged throughout her life.
8. She did not give up, and her success was well-deserving. This book is an encouragement and example to all. Happy reading.
9. It was interesting to see how banking was in another country than the United States. Being a banker myself, I found it interesting and could relate to several tasks that are mentioned. I like the way her family was woven into the story.
10. 'My Life as a banker '' by Brenda Mohammed was an inspirational journey. The author's faith guided her through tribulations and threatening circumstances, and she rose above them. The way she faced challenges was exemplary and was reflected by the guidance of her upbringing and her close connection to her family
11. Don't let the title with the word 'banker' in it fool you into believing this book is for finance professionals only. It is actually the true and inspiring story of one woman's immense faith and family that helps shape her into the powerful, yet humble woman she would become.
All the above reviews are five-stars.
Readers, there is only one critical review.
It is a one-star and the headline is Hardly a life worth writing a book about,

The book received a five-star review.

"A Time to Read: A Beautiful and Soulful Tale about Trust and Belief in the Lord!

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

Having herself experienced a lifetime of tragedy and joy, Author Brenda Mohammed assumes the mantle of theologian/philosopher in her quest to understand and explain the elegance and meaning found in the biblical verses extolled in Ecclesiastes 3.
In "Your TIME is NOW: A Time to be Born and a Time to Die", Mohammed fully examines each memorable and precious verse and applies them to her own life experiences.
In doing so, she takes the reader on a journey through a lifetime filled with trials and tribulations, despair and hope, loss and success.
The author eloquently defines Ecclesiastes 3, pointing out that, by freely accepting God's will, she has been amply blessed with a faithful family, loyal mentors, good friends, and a full life.
She successfully leaves her readers with a message of hope and inspiration by sharing her belief that, through introspection and prayer, one may find meaning within the events of their own everyday experiences.
She appears to be a firm proponent of the old adage, "When days seem at their darkest, surrendering and trusting in the divine will ensure peace and prosperity".
All in all, I found this book to be quite engaging.
The author's reflections on her childhood were beyond charming in some spots, yet brought me to tears in others.
Her candidness about her relationships with parents, siblings, husband, and her own children reminded me so much of my own family's saga, and I must admit that I was thrilled to find a read that tugged at my heartstrings the way this book did!
For any individual seeking solace and meaning in today's hectic world, "Your TIME is NOW: A Time to be Born and a Time to Die" is a beautiful and soulful read.
Thank you, Brenda Mohammed, for sharing your journey with me!"

Five Stars.

Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed opens with Zeeka and the Zombies.
On the island of Gosh in January 2036 Raynor Sharpe is woken by rattling to see a beach full of small robots.
Is he still dreaming?
Raynor is a hospital doctor and so is the woman he secretly loves, but Janet is engaged to another man.
Gosh’s carnival is turned from an exotic native spectacle to tragedy by a troop of entertainers: zombies who shoot into the audience killing and injuring hundreds.
How can these monsters disintegrate into a heap of dust?
Why is one false head found?
Who is Zeeka, and does he control the zombies?
Why does Janet cancel her wedding?
Can the Chief of Police be trusted, or is he as corrupt as others in the force?
Read on: Zeeka's Child; Zeeka Returns, Zeeka's Ghost, and Resurrection hold the un-guessable answers.
Zeeka Chronicles comprises five books from the Revenge of Zeeka series.
2036 is shown as a technically advanced world by gadgets like watches that act much like today’s smartphones plus visual contact, robots and much more.
The story is built on the premise that a doctor discovers a cure for a disease but is prevented from using it, but the plot becomes more entangled the further you read. Police corruption, suicide, kidnapping, and a very active ghost.
Brenda Mohammed’s writing style is evocative of the future and she handles the science in her fiction brilliantly: reading is believing!
I loved Zeeka Chronicles; it has worldwide appeal for anyone looking for an entertaining story that is different.

TOP REVIEW

This inspiring book tells of the many adventures experienced by the author after retiring from a banking career.
She talks about her new career in the insurance business and narrates, with meticulous detail, the many wonderful experiences
in her new life including the birth of her grandchildren, her meeting of new friends, her travels abroad, and her continued enjoyment of life. For her, life certainly did not stop at retirement.

Throughout the book, the author demonstrates a positive outlook on everything that happens in her life. Not only did she endure wonderful experiences, but she also had a bout with cancer and a terrible accident in Miami. She interprets these negative events in a positive light by using them to show how her faith helped her to overcome these obstacles.

The author's appreciation of life is evident as she treasures every moment with her family and the time she shares with them.

As in her previous books, the author once again exhibits a remarkable memory for details as she provides a meticulous description of all her activities since retirement. The style is simple and readable.

The book shows that life certainly does not end when one retires.
Life continues and one must live with a positive and determined spirit to continue experiencing the joy of life
and to discover one's hidden talents.

I enjoyed the positive spirit shown by the author in this book. She demonstrates that it is one's attitude that counts towards one's enjoyment of life.

This book is recommended for all retirees or persons contemplating retirement.
