Review by Readers Favorite:
Retirement is Fun: A New Chapter by Brenda Mohammed is an interesting memoir where the author shares with readers her moments after retirement and how it is a time when everyone should sit back and enjoy life.
After reading this book, no one will dread retirement.
They will all look forward to it and use that time to enjoy the beauty of life, spend more time with the family, and experience their unconditional love.
Retiring from the job does not mean one retires from life because one gets time to appreciate the beauty of unlimited time and use it effectively by doing things they missed out on doing while they were working.
The book is uplifting as it makes everyone who is going to retire look forward to it.
The author's experiences and adventures after retirement give readers ideas on how to handle their lives in a good and happy way after retiring from their jobs.
Brenda Mohammed shows by example how one's attitude can make a difference to everything and life can be enjoyed at any age, irrespective of whether you are young or not.
The memoir is simple and chronicles the author's life and events, taking readers into her space.
The memoir is a good read; readers can connect well with what the author says and the events and experiences in her life and the way she handles life is tangible.

Great Motivational Read!

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What can I say about "Retirement Is Fun?"
It’s a book that gives the good and the bad of living in this 21st century.
There are incredible miracles and incredible heartbreaks, yet through it all with the support of family and faith in God, we prevail.
The author wrote the accounting as it occurred, with no frills or embellishments.
She takes the reader along with her to the many places she visited.
Her obvious enjoyment in them is a testament to her wonderful spirit.
The book is written in two parts.
I was happy the author gives us the good news in the first half, that way, the reader is able to see her strength and appreciate from whence she came.
I was impressed with the places she had visited.
I’d thought I was a world traveler, but I take my hat off to her and her wonderful family.
This is a great motivational and inspirational story for anyone who needs uplifting.

An Unfazed Heroine

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The novel Retirement is Fun by Brenda Mohammed may be deceptively read as an account of a continuous intercontinental road trip.
However, Retirement is Fun can more accurately read as the saga of the quiet determination of an unassuming heroine to maintain and promote social cohesion and interdependence of the family as she knows it.
Brenda gives life to the family which in turn gives life to her.
It’s the web of family closeness facilitated by Brenda from she draws strength in her darkest hour as she is afflicted with cancer and successfully grapples with retirement.
The family dynamics begs interpretation and one finds it in the context of the social and cultural background of the collectivist substrata.
It is in Brenda’s indefatigable efforts to champion the cause of family even as she journeys through a series sicknesses, births and deaths sequences and remains unfazed that a true hero is born.

Dancing around the World

Yes, I have danced in many parts of the world.
I mean dancing physically.
In both books, My Life as a Banker and Retirement is Fun I have described my adventures.
I was talking to my siblings and niece last night as we were discussing music, dancing, times, and places.
We played several songs and reminisced about old times.
Actually, we were selecting songs to play at my husband's birthday celebration later in the month.
It occurred to me that I had danced to some of those songs in different parts of the world.
I danced in Germany, Holland, London, Cirencester, Virginia, Los Angeles, Colorado, New Orleans, Barbados, and of course in my native country, Trinidad.
If I left out any places I am sure that you, my readers will discover them.

I have also published a book on my Travel Memoirs.
Travel Memoirs with Pictures: Exploring the World is a book filled with reflections of the author's travels around the world.
She relates the family adventures and treats readers to a pictorial travel book of priceless memories.
She describes places visited and the wonderful times she and her family had in their tourist trips, not only in words but with an amazing photo collection.
The book is great to read while on a vacation or for some travel inspiration.

Nearing the end of her book she ends with a delightful poem of her travels. This was a nice touch.

TOP REVIEW

This inspiring book tells of the many adventures experienced by the author after retiring from a banking career.
She talks about her new career in the insurance business and narrates, with meticulous detail, the many wonderful experiences
in her new life including the birth of her grandchildren, her meeting of new friends, her travels abroad, and her continued enjoyment of life. For her, life certainly did not stop at retirement.

Throughout the book, the author demonstrates a positive outlook on everything that happens in her life. Not only did she endure wonderful experiences, but she also had a bout with cancer and a terrible accident in Miami. She interprets these negative events in a positive light by using them to show how her faith helped her to overcome these obstacles.

The author's appreciation of life is evident as she treasures every moment with her family and the time she shares with them.

As in her previous books, the author once again exhibits a remarkable memory for details as she provides a meticulous description of all her activities since retirement. The style is simple and readable.

The book shows that life certainly does not end when one retires.
Life continues and one must live with a positive and determined spirit to continue experiencing the joy of life
and to discover one's hidden talents.

I enjoyed the positive spirit shown by the author in this book. She demonstrates that it is one's attitude that counts towards one's enjoyment of life.

This book is recommended for all retirees or persons contemplating retirement.
